The first days in residence and after
The first time I came to school was in 2020 when I was in the 2 MYP of middle school, it happened at the summit of Covid-19, when Spain was partially in lockdown. Being a 12-year-old, little-independent boy, I was very surprised by the serious mask regime in Spain, especially after the Russian environment, where no one wore masks even in the worst times of the pandemic. My knowledge of Spanish, and of English itself, was quite low. English at that moment hardly reached B1, while in Spanish I could only say some simple words. :)
Throughout the lows and highs of my life in the residence, residence students always came to help. Not only do you live with them together, but you can also freely communicate with each other. You now spend a very big part of your daily life with the people you met upon your arrival at the residence. It is also a wonderful place for meeting nice people, with who you may spend your next couple of years. The residence forms a very close society with which you will spend most of your time, both after school and on weekends.
My advice to anyone who at least once becomes part of such a small society as the residence, I would meet everyone from the first days of arrival. Although meeting each other will be strange at first, believe me, the month of living together will change a lot. It is just a matter of time. Do no just be discouraged, and keep a nice friendly atmosphere in your room.
Be broad-minded and respect others. You will get to know everyone over time. You should have respect towards others, but also remind them to respect you. Chill and overcome your social fears!
Over time, even my first roommates, once unfamiliar to me, became great friends with whom I have known for 3 years. Best of luck to you all!
